American Signal Corporation Brings Enhanced Mass Notification Upgrades to Homestead Air Reserve Base

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 12, 2017 — American Signal Corporation (ASC) is pleased to announce its newest project: a comprehensive mass notification system upgrade for Homestead Air Reserve Base. Enhancements to the base's current system will encompass indoor, outdoor and digital channels.

Located 6 miles northeast of Homestead, FL, Homestead Air Reserve Base is home to the 482d Fighter Wing (482 FW). It houses more than 1,200 reservists and 300 full-time civilians. Situated near the Florida coast, the base was previously destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in August 1992, prompting enhanced focus on emergency management and mass notification.

With recent hurricanes of historic strengths, the time has come to once again update the base's mass notification capabilities. ASC will provide a combination of outdoor high-powered speaker arrays, as well as a two-way solution to push warnings indoors. ASC's ISI relay kits will tie directly into the base's Simplex 4100 Fire panel system. It's also the first siren system that will utilize the company's ECC encrypted card.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to show the versatility and effectiveness of our ECC encrypted card in tandem with our already-proven technologies,” said Richard Roe, Executive Vice President at American Signal Corporation. “A project of this size demands flawless integration. We're very excited about the solutions we're able to bring to Homestead Air Reserve Base.”

As this system is installed, it will also begin adding more Interior System Interface (ISI) Kits to buildings across the base, to improve the overall scope of alert control. The base's legacy system and its new ASC upgrades will all tie into and be managed by two CompuLert™ NEXGen servers and CSC-960 locations on-base.
