Akadema 12u Prospects Win The Fall Championship

November 23, 2017 - On November 12th in Riverdale New Jersey the Akadema White 12u team took home the NJYB 12u fall championship against the Akadema Blue 12u team with a score of 11-2. It was a chilly Saturday afternoon when both Akadema teams took the field at 1pm. The game swung early in the favor of Akadema White when leadoff hitter and starting catcher Mickey “The Mick” Gilligan stroked a leadoff homerun off of the first pitch of the game. After that both teams battled in a game much closer than the score indicated. When the game was over both teams were presented trophies from NJYB Director Bill White. Coach Lawrence Gilligan was quoted as saying “This was a big accomplishment for Akadema's 12u baseball programs. Not only did we win the championship but we also had our brand new 12u team finish in second. These teams will both be very competitive come spring and summer seasons.” Both teams will now participate in winter training at the Pro Player Baseball Academy and better themselves for the coming seasons.
