33 Washington St Office Space Undergoes Extensive Renovation

The iconic 450,000-square-foot office tower is undergoing extensive renovations from street to roof with state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities.

Newark, New Jersey – January 5, 2018 – Changes are already happening at 33 Washington Street, a recent acquisition of the Berger Organization. The 450,000-square-foot office tower is undergoing extensive renovations. This prime office space building in Newark will undergo major changes including: all new central systems including elevators, HVAC and security, remodeled lobby, new streetscape to welcome tenants and visitors, fit-outs for tenants in emerging tech fields and the legal sector.

In addition to that project, Washington Street is being transformed by other building projects as well. Of note is that their neighbor, the respected Newark Museum, is also undergoing a streetscape renovation for its Washington Street entrance, which had been closed for 30 years. Visitors to the museum will soon enter through the original and beautiful front door.

Another neighbor to 33 Washington Street, has just completed a $70-million renovation to transform a former church into a high tech facility, supporting Newark’s emergence as the new technology center on the East Coast. That project was done by building owners Fidelco and Audible, which is headquartered at 1 Washington Street.

These buildings are all in the Washington Park neighborhood and—more good news—a group of Newark business leaders, in partnership with the City, are in talks about renovating Washington Park similar to the beautification and upgrades that were completed at Military Park. Local businesses know firsthand how important the Military Park renovation was to that neighborhood and to the residents of Newark, and entrepreneurs hope to see a similar renewal at Washington Park.

Other exciting developments for Newark is that 33 Washington Street is within a district proposed by the City for Amazon’s second corporate headquarters, called HQ2. Amazon is putting out bids to many cities to become home to its second headquarters; given Newark’s reputation as a growing technology hub and its proximity to the area’s major transportation infrastructure, plus Amazon’s large distribution center footprint in the region, all of Newark is watching this situation closely.

While Newark continues to grow and attract a new generation of entrepreneurs and businesses with premium Newark office space, the city’s cultural activities are one of the main reasons people are attached to Newark as place to live and work. The future looks bright for Newark!

About the Author: Carrie Brunner

Carrie Brunner grew up in a small town in northern New Brunswick. She studied chemistry in college, graduated, and married her husband one month later. They were then blessed with two baby boys within the first four years of marriage. Having babies gave their family a desire to return to the old paths – to nourish their family with traditional, homegrown foods; rid their home of toxic chemicals and petroleum products; and give their boys a chance to know a simple, sustainable way of life. They are currently building a homestead from scratch on two little acres in central Texas. There’s a lot to be done to become somewhat self-sufficient, but they are debt-free and get to spend their days living this simple, good life together with their five young children. Carrie writes mostly on provincial stories.
