On December 3rd 2017, Yan Wei, a post 90s expert on Tai Chi, delivered a special opening performance for the 1st Tiansheng Prize Award Ceremony. His performance received a positive feedback from 1,300 Acupuncture-Moxibustion experts from more than 30 countries, inc. China, USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, India, Japan, South Korea.
The ceremony was part of the 2017 World Conference of Acupuncture-Moxibustion and the 2017 Annual Conference of China Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion.
As a 26-year-old young man and champion of numerous Tai Chi competitions, Yan Wei learnt Tai Chi on the Wudang Mountains. Since then he has been focusing on introducting Tai Chi to the public via workshops and courses. Yan Wei is also adding his own understandings of Tai Chi and traditional Chinese culture into his own works, as well as his personal life.
As the opening performance of a ceremony focused on Acupuncture-Moxibustion, Yan Wei named the show “Acupuncture, an encouraging path”. He combined Tai Chi, traditional Chinese dance, traditional Chinese music instruments such as the Han drum, and elements of acupuncture-moxibustion. The combination resulted in a new form called “Tai Chi Zen Dance”, and forms an interdisciplinary dialogue between Chinese art and Chinese medicine.

This is not the first time Yan Wei gave a performance for acupuncture-moxibustion experts. Back in August, he delivered another creative show on the opening ceremony of the world’s first acupuncture-moxibustion weight-losing competition “Be Your Own Hero”. As an artist of Keystone Culture Co, co-organizer of the the 2017 World Conference of Acupuncture-Moxibustion and producer of “Be Your Own Hero”, Yan Wei’s performances were a part of Keystone Culture Co’s strategy to creatively introduce acupuncture-moxibustion to the whole world. As the Chinese government is continuously encouraging citizens to learn and promote traditional Chinese culture, Yan Wei, along with Keystone Culture Co, is working hard to let more people, especially young people become interested in traditional Chinese cultural heritage.
