Sean McKenna to Speak at 2017 Texas Health Law Conference

Sean McKenna, a shareholder in the Dallas office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak at the Texas Health Law Conference Oct. 22-24, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin, TX. McKenna will present on the panel “Enforcement 2017 – Perspectives From DOJ and the Defense.” The panel will address the key issues at the forefront of enforcement; how DOJ works closely with the federal and state law enforcement agencies and health care benefit programs; and the defenses, tactics, and considerations at issue when clients face government enforcement actions.

McKenna focuses his practice on health care enforcement and regulatory issues, representing individuals and providers under civil or administrative investigation by the Department of Justice, Offices of Inspector General, and Attorneys’ General Medicaid Fraud Control Units, as well as in criminal investigations and matters involving the United States and State Attorneys General. As a former 10-year Assistant United States Attorney, Associate Counsel to the Inspector General, and General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, he focuses his practice on matters involving the health care industry and regularly represents clients before Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial contractors. His work includes assisting clients with internal investigations and compliance reviews, as well as advising on compliance with state and federal fraud and abuse rules. About the Author: Carrie Brunner

Carrie Brunner grew up in a small town in northern New Brunswick. She studied chemistry in college, graduated, and married her husband one month later. They were then blessed with two baby boys within the first four years of marriage. Having babies gave their family a desire to return to the old paths – to nourish their family with traditional, homegrown foods; rid their home of toxic chemicals and petroleum products; and give their boys a chance to know a simple, sustainable way of life. They are currently building a homestead from scratch on two little acres in central Texas. There’s a lot to be done to become somewhat self-sufficient, but they are debt-free and get to spend their days living this simple, good life together with their five young children. Carrie writes mostly on provincial stories.
