Relapsing Polychondritis To Be One Of Subjects Discussed At Upcoming Pittsburg Expert Panel Addressing Autoimmune Disorders

NEW YORK – 09-17-2018 — A leading panel of physicians from the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) will be discussing over 100 autoimmune diseases, including relapsing polychondritis, in an upcoming expert panel event this September in Pittsburgh, PA. RPASF, Inc. and Race for RP have announced their endorsement of the event, calling on people to support the event and attend it.

The Relapsing Polychondritis Awareness and Support Foundation (RPASF) together with Race for RP today celebrated the news of relapsing polychondritis featuring on the latest expert Q&A panel from the “All of Her Life” Community Health Series, a year-long partnership between Pittsburgh’s WPXI TV and the Allegheny Health Network. The awareness-raising, 365-day women’s health event is dedicated to bringing resources and to women of every age in local communities in and around Pittsburg. The event is open to those who register, and will feature an expert panel of physicians from AHN who will discuss and take questions on over a hundred autoimmune diseases. Attendees will also enjoy on-site access to schedule appointments with leading physicians and a giveaway bag, packed with more information and goodies.“We’re thrilled that the AHN Autoimmunity Institute has relapsing polychondritis ‘on its radar screen,’ and this event is a huge opportunity for anyone attending to find out more about this terrible disease from some of the foremost authorities in the field,” said Nancy Linn, Chair of the RPASF Board of Directors.“The Institute is an unparalleled venture, bringing an innovative approach to raising awareness of autoimmune diseases, combined with cutting-edge research, education, and multispecialty care for patients, and a huge ally for all those suffering from autoimmune diseases, not just relapsing polychondritis. We urge anyone interested in learning more about these terrible diseases and to attend.”Among the subjects expected to be discussed are relapsing polychondritis, lupus, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and thyroiditis among others. Autoimmune diseases, of which there are more than one hundred, affect over 50 million Americans today.Relapsing polychondritis, a chronic autoimmune disorder, affects just 3 to 5 people per million . Due to its rarity, patients attempting to get a diagnosis can run into a brick wall of misdiagnosis from physicians and specialists who are simply unaware of the condition, often mistaking it for other diseases which have similar symptoms.Bringing awareness to the public and physicians alike is just one step in a journey toward improved care, treatment, and hopeful one-day cure for sufferers of relapsing polychondritis, a painful disease where the immune system attacks the body’s cartilage.“This event is a significant chance for people in Pittsburgh and surroundings to learn more, not just about relapsing polychondritis, but other autoimmune diseases from some of the world’s leading experts,” added David Bammert, President of the RPASF board of directors. The event which will take place on Thursday, September 27, 2018, between 5:30pm to 8:00, will be hosted at the AHN Autoimmunity Institute at West Penn Hospital on 4800 Friendship Avenue in Pittsburgh, with validated parking available in the Millvale Garage. Complimentary food and beverages will also be available. Admission is free, and those interested can register here. For more information about relapsing polychondritis and to support the RPASF, please visit For all general and media inquiries, please contact Matthew Salaverry at 646-825-0572 or [email protected].About Relapsing Polychondritis Awareness and Support Foundation Inc.The Relapsing Polychondritis Awareness and Support Foundation Inc. Carrie Brunner grew up in a small town in northern New Brunswick. She studied chemistry in college, graduated, and married her husband one month later. They were then blessed with two baby boys within the first four years of marriage. Having babies gave their family a desire to return to the old paths – to nourish their family with traditional, homegrown foods; rid their home of toxic chemicals and petroleum products; and give their boys a chance to know a simple, sustainable way of life. They are currently building a homestead from scratch on two little acres in central Texas. There’s a lot to be done to become somewhat self-sufficient, but they are debt-free and get to spend their days living this simple, good life together with their five young children. Carrie writes mostly on provincial stories.
