Author and businessman, Zhang Ziyi, debuts his inaugural book, “Live in Contemporary China,” exploring what it’s like to live in China through a series of essays detailing how the country has changed through the years.

The book starts off with an exploration of the country’s technological shifts, including perspectives from the author as a successful businessman. The theme of the book is that in order for China to continue its progress, its people must pay attention to the right information from reputable sources, find balance between demands and supply during economic development, and examine their personal situations as they aim to achieve better lives. The essays dive into why it’s worth investing time and effort on developing deep friendships, and places emphasis on abandoning the superficial to focus on self-cultivation, family governance, entrepreneurship, and national development.

“Along with years of development, China has been demonstrating a new look to the world. Her achievements and cultures are gradually accepted more and more by people at home and abroad. Live in Contemporary China is dedicated to our motherland as a token of affection and gratitude,” said Zhang Ziyi, Author.

About the Author: Carrie Brunner

Carrie Brunner grew up in a small town in northern New Brunswick. She studied chemistry in college, graduated, and married her husband one month later. They were then blessed with two baby boys within the first four years of marriage. Having babies gave their family a desire to return to the old paths – to nourish their family with traditional, homegrown foods; rid their home of toxic chemicals and petroleum products; and give their boys a chance to know a simple, sustainable way of life. They are currently building a homestead from scratch on two little acres in central Texas. There’s a lot to be done to become somewhat self-sufficient, but they are debt-free and get to spend their days living this simple, good life together with their five young children. Carrie writes mostly on provincial stories.
