Formerly a “portable” church, then residing at a location on Northland drive, BridgeWay Community Church has continued to grow and become a vital part of the community for nearly 18 years. Plans were set in motion in 2010 for the move to Childsdale, but the arduous process of environmental cleanup was more expensive and time-consuming that first thought.
Senior Pastor, Ron Aulbach says that the 7 year experience of bringing the property back to life was challenging, “We had so much excitement about moving back in 2010 when Don Fox graciously donated the property to BridgeWay.”
That realization meant years of cleanup in partnership with the Federal EPA and Trouts Unlimited. “The building that stands here now is a testament that land, just like people, are never beyond redemption. That’s why we called this project ‘Redeeming Life on the River’, because it really is a beautiful story of redemption” continued Aulbach.
The new 2 million dollar facility was made possible by financial commitments from the congregation with assistance from Grand River Bank. It will comfortably accommodate up to 650 people per service, and has large secure areas for both children and students.
“We’re beyond excited about our new church home,” added Aulbach, “we’ll be able to expand our ministry, add new programs, and serve the Rockford community better than ever.”
The Grand Opening Celebration will be held at all three services over September 16th and September 17th. Service times are:
Saturday September 16th – 6pm
Sunday September 17th – 9am & 10:45am
